Most storage is designed to be hidden, and that's the reason so many homes have plastic boxes crammed into cupboards while the clutter stays out on the surfaces. This collection works the other way round. Everything in it is good enough to leave in plain sight: seagrass and cotton rope baskets, bamboo shelving that stands where you put it rather than bolting to a wall, glass pantry jars with wooden lids, modular drawer trays, and an oak panel with hooks for the entryway. They tidy a room and decorate it at the same time.

Two things guide what we pick. Natural materials, because bamboo and woven fibre warm a room up where plastic dividers make it look like a stationery cupboard. And shapes that fit real furniture, which mostly means rectangular things that use the corners of a shelf instead of wasting them. What we're not interested in is a labelled, color-coded system that takes a weekend to build and gets abandoned by March. A handful of good containers works better, because putting things away becomes the easy option rather than the virtuous one.

Start with the surface that annoys you most. The table by the front door, the open kitchen shelf, the corner of the bedroom where everything accumulates. Give that one spot a container that's genuinely nice to look at and see how long the tidiness lasts before doing another. Since these pieces are meant to be seen, they still look right when they're half empty, which is the real test of whether storage stays in use or ends up in the loft.
