Why we picked it
Half an hour of decanting changes a kitchen shelf more than most things you could buy for the money. Six matching jars replace a dozen half-open packets in different colors, and because the glass is clear you can see what's nearly gone without pulling anything out. The seal is a genuine one, which matters for flour and rice. The acacia lids stop the whole row looking like a laboratory.
Styling notes
Line them up by height, or group them by how you cook, so the coffee and the sugar aren't at opposite ends of the shelf from each other. Either approach beats arranging by contents, which never survives the first week. Write the labels before you fill anything, since a system tends to stick once it's named and get abandoned when it isn't. The jars go in the dishwasher happily. Wash the acacia lids by hand, because dishwasher heat dries the wood out and eventually splits it.
Good to know
- Jars are dishwasher-safe. The wooden lids need hand-washing.
- Label first, fill second. Named systems last longer.
