Why we picked it
Most lamps end up wherever the sockets are, which is almost never where you want the light. This one runs on a battery, so it can go on a bookshelf, a windowsill, or the middle of a dinner table with nothing trailing behind it. 2700K is roughly the color of candlelight. The brass and linen finish is what stops it looking like a gadget, which is the trap most rechargeable lamps fall into.
Styling notes
Treat it as light you can carry rather than a fixture you install. Ours moves between the bookshelf at dusk, the kitchen island over dinner, and the bedside later on. Turned right down it stops being useful for reading and becomes something closer to a candle, which is usually what you want after nine. It has enough presence to hold a console table on its own. One charge covers about a fortnight of evenings, so in practice it stays where you put it.
