- Set includes: 12 taper candles in a brown-to-ivory gradient
- Size: 10 in (25 cm) tall, fits standard candlesticks
- Burn time: around 8 hours each, steady flame
- Notes: smokeless, dripless and unscented, so they won't clash with anything else in the room
Why we picked it
Twelve is the number that changes how you use them. Buy two expensive tapers and they sit in a drawer waiting for an occasion that never quite arrives. Buy a dozen and you light them on a Tuesday. The gradient means any three you pull out already work together, and being unscented, they won't argue with the food or with a diffuser running in the next room.
Styling notes
Odd numbers, uneven heights. Three tapers at staggered lengths in plain holders look arranged; four matched ones at identical heights look like a hotel banquet. If they're all fresh out of the box, burn one down for twenty minutes to break the symmetry. Put them in the center of the table rather than at the ends, then turn the overhead light off entirely, which is the part most people skip and the part that actually does the work. Eight hours each means you can afford to.
Good to know
- Light them and leave the ceiling light off.
- Twelve in a box means you don't have to save them for special occasions.
