  • Includes: remote control

Why we picked it

Sconces either side of a bed are one of the clearest differences between a bedroom that's been styled and one that's only been furnished. Almost nobody puts them in, because hardwiring means chasing cables through plaster and paying someone to do it. These are rechargeable, so you get the same effect for the price of two screws. The remote matters more than it sounds: the last move before sleep isn't standing back up.

Styling notes

Roughly shoulder height when you're sitting up is the position you want, either side of a bed or flanking a sofa. The light pools on the wall behind them and lifts the whole corner, which is the part a table lamp can't really do. Use the mounting tape to test a height for a few days before committing to screws, because sconces hung slightly too high look wrong in a way that's hard to unsee afterwards. 3000K keeps them cozy rather than clinical. Expect to recharge every few weeks depending on how much you use them.

Good to know

  • The effect looks like a renovation. The cost and the effort are closer to a lamp.
  • Recharge every few weeks depending on how often they're on.
