Why we picked it
Boucle has been everywhere for a few years now and it has earned it. The looped surface catches light unevenly, which is why it looks expensive from the far side of a room, and it's genuinely soft up close rather than scratchy like a lot of textured weaves. The organic dye gives the oat color some depth. Flat-dyed neutrals go dull under lamplight; this one doesn't.
Styling notes
Texture only registers next to something smooth, so put it against flat linen, leather, or a plain cotton throw rather than in a pile of other knits. One cushion changes a corner and two will anchor a whole sofa, but four is where a room starts to look like a showroom. Buy the insert a couple of centimetres larger than the cover so it fills out properly; a cushion that sags at the corners undoes the whole effect. Spot-clean rather than machine wash, and keep it away from hot water so the dye holds its depth.
Good to know
- Use a feather insert one size up for a full, plump shape.
- Spot-clean. Loop knits don't enjoy a washing machine.
