Why we picked it
Jute is the workhorse neutral for floors. It doesn't compete with anything above it, and it makes softer textures nearby look richer by comparison. The braid here is woven rather than printed, which matters more than it sounds: at this price most rugs fake their texture with a pattern, and you can tell within a week. This one wears down slowly and honestly instead.
Styling notes
Use it to mark out a seating area rather than to fill a room. Jute works best when the furniture sits partly on it, so the rug pulls the group together instead of floating in the middle of the floor. In winter, layer a smaller sheepskin or wool rug on top for something warmer underfoot without losing the natural base underneath. The flat braid hides daily traffic well. Vacuum with the beater bar off, shake it out occasionally, and keep it clear of standing water, since damp and natural fibre don't get along for long.
