Why we picked it

Real linen bedding is lovely and costs what it costs. Washed cotton gets you most of the way there for about half, with a softer hand from the first night rather than after two years of breaking it in. The greige tone is the useful part: it's warm enough not to read as gray, and it makes creases look intentional. Bedding that looks best unironed is bedding you'll actually keep using.

Styling notes

Pull the duvet up, put one crease down the middle of each pillow, and stop. Anything more careful than that starts fighting the texture. It layers well under a knitted throw or against a boucle cushion in the same family of colors, which is the easiest way to make a bed look built rather than bought as a set. Tie all four corner loops onto the insert, or you'll be shaking the duvet back into its corners every few nights. Run it through a wash before the first use; it softens noticeably in the first couple of cycles.

Good to know

• The corner ties do genuinely stop the duvet sliding. Use all four.
• Wash before first use. The texture relaxes after a cycle or two.
